Birding!

Hello again! So this is not becoming an art blog and I am posting a lot recently. Here for your pleasure is my most recent birding adventure from Sunday morning in Ryerson woods. It was the WORST time to go birding (around 11am because SOMEONE who isn't me couldn't get his ass out of bed) and it was raining. Not drizzling- raining and like 20 degrees out. So I went birding and I had one of those moments where I knew what would happen but I hoped I was wrong. I wasn't wrong an by that I mean no birds were out. But it is still a gorgeous place to go! I knew in the rain just about the only place I was going to see anything was the river so I went there and saw some Canada geese (I know, calm yourselves!) and mallards (THE EXCITEMENT IS KILLING ME) and then a whole lot of nothing except some nice trees (and a bunch that had fallen over and of course maple takeover). I ventured up the river and suddenly a duck! A tiny duck! I watched these guys for a little while before realizing they were Common Goldeneyes! The last time I saw these guys was in Milwaukee. I saw 2 females- so it was exciting but you know... drab. ALAS It is a diving duck! So just when I was like I wish I could see a male BOOM White plumage! And I got my wish. Then another female popped up for a total of 3 females and 1 male. I just wanted to share how excited I was over this duck! Like more than I should have been for something that has Common right in the name. I also realized that where the black met white on the ducks plumage by bins were picking up green. Then of course my friend who I went with has the Swarovskis (I'm so jealous) and that is when I added new binoculars to me list of things I want really badly. I have 10x42 Redheads- they are OK for the price but not great overall. Anyways, check out this little gem! We found a bunch of trees that beavers had eaten and someone took it upon themselves to build a snowman! It was by far the most interesting thing we found all day!!

I would enjoy some answers

Helloooooooo! I am working on some bookmarks to print and sell or use for the enormous (and still growing) pile of books I am reading or about to read. So I started by picking birds I liked and thought would fit into a bookmark well- then it hit me! I use tall skinny compositions all the time! This is not difficult enough, so please suggest birds for my bookmarks! So far I have a Harpy Eagle for Kaycie. That is all so far! So anything you can think of or would enjoy seeing let me know! I dont really expect a lot of responses so I think I will do 4 different types of bookmark ROCK ON!

So I wanted to share this with you, I was listening to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's 'Thrift Shop' (SHUT UP ITS TOTALLY AWESOME. As is some of his other work but nothing makes me laugh like thrift shop.) So I took a screengrab and laughed. Now I will share it with you.
Just thought I would share! Bye!

Keeping up!

Hey Guys, Obviously I have been really good at posting regularly... Anyways, I just wanted to update everyone here with the fact that I have now applied to CraneFest 2013 to be an artist and I have applied to another show (lightgreyartlab) to be in a cool show about the natural world. So wish me luck!!! I am especially hopeful about CraneFest held by Michigan Audubon Society, if you have some time in October CHECK IT OUT. I will leave you with a picture of a crane to inspire you!
Thank you guys!!!

Ruffian

Hey Guys,

I know it is kind of late but that is in keeping with this post. I did a painting for today.
Specific.
Today was the anniversary of Ruffian's death, who is Ruffian? An amazing filly racehorse. She was the fastest filly, nay racehorse ever. (get it Nay?)

Joking aside she was one awesome horse and today is the anniversary of the day she broke down in her match race against Foolish pleasure. So to celebrate this amazing horse and her life I painted a picture. I made it pretty not dynamic.

I don't have much to say after that long nonsense so here.

MASSIVE UPLOAD

I had been working and painting like a maniac before I left Milwaukee but alas the move has destroyed me so far. I haven`t done anything since I got back. I also hit an origami kick too. So here are the results.

ALL RIGHT. That should be all for now. YIKES!
